Norma J. Dudley, age 90, of Cumberland, Ohio, died Friday, February 21, 2025, at Genesis Hospital in Zanesville. She was born November 21, 1934, in Sarahsville, daughter of the late Albert Urbane and Sarah S. Rayner Hurst. Norma was a 1952 graduate of Belle Valley High School. Along with her husband, she owned and operated a family farm. She was employed over the years as a seamstress for Noble Products and as a clerk in the sewing department at the former K-V Store in Caldwell. She served as a 4-H advisor for the Belle Valley Chefs and Tailors for many years, and she was a member of the Hiramsburg United Methodist Church and the Noble County Travelers. Norma enjoyed crafting and gardening, and she was devoted to her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Wayne Dudley, whom she married August 13, 1952, and who died March 12, 2022; a son-in-law. Francis F. Brown; and two brothers, George W. (Dorothy) Hurst and Herbert L. Hurst.
Surviving are her children, Sarah Jean Brown of Cumberland and Albert J. “AJ” (Diane) Dudley of Caldwell; four grandchildren, Joseph D. Dudley of Cumberland, Betsy J. (Lang) Maseman of Rockford, Illinois, Aaron P. (Savannah) Brown of Cincinnati, and Megan C. Chandler (Derick Snyder) of Caldwell; 6 great-grandchildren, Karsey, Khyber, Wyatt, Karolyn, Hollis, and Emma; a sister-in-law, Lois Ann Hurst of Caldwell; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may call Monday, February 24, 2025, from 11AM-1PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will follow visitation at 1PM with Ken Perkins officiating. A private burial will take place at Hiramsburg Cemetery.
