Obituary for Nora E. Stewart
Nora E. Stewart, age 102, formerly of Caldwell, Ohio, died Tuesday, February 26, 2019, at Tuscany Gardens in Pataskala. She was born February 1, 1917, in Noble County, daughter of the late Clark and Hazel Blake Starr. She was a 1935 graduate of Belle Valley High School. Nora was employed by Akron Aircraft Company during World War II, working as a “Rosie the Riveter.” She was a homemaker, and she was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Amazon Chapter in Caldwell and a former Girl Scout leader. She was a member of the Belle Valley United Methodist Church, and she loved flowers and gardening, and she especially loved reading.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Albert W. “Sodie” Stewart, whom she married December 28, 1941, and who died July 13, 1998; one son, Jimmy Stewart, who died in August, 1953; three sisters, Myra Peters, Evelyn Starr, and Lola Williams; and four brothers, Charles, Walton, Kermit, and Myron Starr.
Surviving are one daughter, Joyce M. Stewart of Reynoldsburg; one grandson, Blake P. Daubenmire of Columbus; one sister, Ruby Burton of Columbus; one brother, William Starr of Marietta; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
A private burial will be observed by the family at Halley’s Ridge Cemetery.
