Obituary for Nellie N. Massie
Nellie N. Massey, age 79, of Lower Salem, Ohio died Monday afternoon (10/28/2002) at The Arbors at Marietta, Ohio. She was born 8/20/1923 in Lillybrook, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Basil & Addie Elmore Adkins. She was a homemaker, a member of Road Fork Baptist Church, and a WWII Army Veteran, having served as a nurse in California and Maryland. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by 2 brothers Howard & Luther Adkins. Surviving are her husband James H. Massie whom she married 10/17/1947; 2 sons Randall E. (Linda) Massie of Lower Salem, Ohio and James D. (Cheryl) Massie of Doylestown, Ohio; 2 brothers Roy Adkins of Ripley, West Virginia and Harley (Nancy) Adkins of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; 3 sisters Glenna (Charles) Tincher of Oak Hill, West Virginia, Betty (Duane) Schneider of Barberton, Ohio and Hilda (Morris) Nutter of Oak Hill, West Virginia; 7 grandchildren James, Randall, Daniel, Matthew, James, Edward & Brandy; 3 great-grandchildren Ashley, Tyler and Jonathon; numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call Thursday (10/31/2002) from 4 to 8 PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, Ohio 43724, where services will be held on Friday (11/1/2002) at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Morris Nutter officiating. Burial will follow at Creighton Ridge Cemetery. Caldwell Post #4721 VFW will conduct military graveside services.
