Obituary for Naomi Jean Wilson
Naomi Jean Wilson, age 82, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Sunday, May 13, 2018, at The Beckett House in New Concord. She was born February 1, 1936, at Coal Run, Washington County, daughter of the late Lawrence A. and Martha Margaret Tulip Monaghan. She was a 1953 graduate of Lowell High School and a 1973 graduate of Ohio University in Athens, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education followed by a Master’s Degree in Education. She was employed as a teacher, starting in Belle Valley where she taught third grade. She retired from Cambridge City Schools where she taught a variety of grade levels and special education classes. She attended Faith Baptist Church in Belle Valley. Jean enjoyed reading her Bible and knew it well, and she loved Southern Gospel music. She also enjoyed gardening and yard work and loved being outside finding things to do. She was an avid fan of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Jean was a hospitable person who enjoyed having friends, neighbors, people in need, or animals stay at her home.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one sister, Patty Murray; and one brother, Tom Monaghan.
Surviving are her children, Steven D. (Diane) Wilson of Brecksville, Sharon D. Wilson of Lakewood, Sandra D. Wilson of Westerville, Willie D. Wilson of Belle Valley, and Mark E. (Crystal) Wilson of Caldwell; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; her special longtime friend and caregiver, Marlene J. Teters of Caldwell; Marlene’s beloved dog, Buster; and many good friends.
Friends may call Wednesday, May 16, 2018, from 3-7PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will follow visitation at 7PM with Ken Perkins officiating.
