Obituary for Nancy J. Secrest
Nancy J. Secrest, age 74, of Hoskinsville, Ohio, died Wednesday, June 26, 2019, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was born May 30, 1945, in Clinton, Oklahoma, daughter of the late Clarence R. and Juanita N. King Nichols. She was a 1963 graduate of Caldwell High School and a graduate of the former Meredith Business School in Zanesville. Nancy retired from a career in banking. She owned and operated Country Creations with her cousin, Jane Perez. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Belle Valley where she was co-chair of the Decorating Committee with Jane and a former AWANA teacher. She was a former board member and treasurer for the Noble County Board of Developmental Disabilities. Nancy loved scrapbooking, card making, woodworking, painting, sewing, cooking, and flower arranging.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one sister, Jeanie Archer.
Surviving are her husband, James G. Secrest, whom she married July 10, 1993; one daughter, Yvonne R. Braden of Caldwell; her step-children, Nancy (Barry) Snook of Caldwell, Sharon (Jim) Winter of Ashville, and Brian (Rachel) Secrest of Caldwell; two sisters, Judy K. (Duane) Weisend of Caldwell and Rama (Dave) Reese of North Canton; two grandchildren, Trevor Hayes and Shayla Braden; 6 step-grandchildren, Evan Snook and Erica Snook, Christine Winter and Caroline Winter, and Alex Secrest and Tyler Secrest; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may call Saturday, June 29, 2019, from 2-4PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will follow visitation at 4PM with Ken Perkins officiating. Burial will follow at Hoskinsville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Faith Baptist Church Youth Group, 200 Grove Road, Belle Valley, Ohio, 43717, or to Marietta Home Health and Hospice, 450 Pike Street, Suite I1, Marietta, Ohio, 45750.
