Obituary for Myron Wilbur DeVoll
Myron Wilbur DeVoll, age 85, of Caldwell, Ohio, went to be with the Lord July 6, 2012, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus following a short illness. His wife and daughters were near his side. He was born June 4, 1927, in Caldwell, son of the late Wilbur and Clara Bramley DeVoll. Myron proudly served his country in South Korea from 1945 to 1947. He was a corporal in the United States Fifth Air Force, 475th Fighter Group and the 432nd Fighter Squadon. He retired after 40 years of service with the Dana Corporation and he was a member the Caldwell Free Methodist Church. His hobbies included trains, hunting, and gardening. He enjoyed working with horses, traveling, and walking in the country. He loved spending time with his family, especially playing with his beloved grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one, brother, Norman Lee DeVoll. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Mary Belle Pilcher DeVoll, whom he married March 12, 1954; four daughters, Beverly DeVoll, Sharon Barnum, Myra DeVoll, and Shirley Smith and husband Darrell, whom he considered his own son, all of Ohio; six grandchildren, Jesse, Darren, Tyler (Amy), Brooke, Brittany, and Brigitte; one great-grandson, Brayden Samuel; one sister, Maxine (Robert) Sickmiller of Michigan; and one brother, Gene (Linda) DeVoll of Ohio. Friends may call Monday, July 9, 2012, from 2-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Tuesday, July 10th at 1PM with Pastor Dave Wells officiating. A veteran’s graveside service will follow at Olive Cemetery in Caldwell, conducted by the Noble County Veteran Service Organizations.
