Mitzie L. Mellott, age 65, of Grove City, Ohio, died Monday, February 13, 2023, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. She was born April 1, 1957, in Kentucky, daughter of the late Christman O. “C.O.” Ginn and Ruth O. Trenner Ginn, and the biological daughter of the late Roy and Irene Ginn. Mitzie was a 1975 graduate of Shenandoah High School, where she was a member of the band and active in the alumni band. She was employed as an office manager for Famous Supply in Columbus and she retired as office manager for Roadmaster Drivers School in Columbus. Mitzie was a member of the Ava United Methodist Church and a life member and president of the VFW Auxiliary in Plain City. She was devoted to working for veterans. She was a fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhardt, Jr. She loved watching her nieces and nephews at their band and sporting events.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one sister, Freda “Sis” Lenhart; her brothers, Gary E., Jake, and Buddy Ginn; a niece, Kitty Jo Stottsberry; one nephew, Keary Stottsberry; and a brother-in-law, Ken Gallagher.
Surviving are her husband, Russell A. “Rusty” Mellott, whom she married June 11, 1977; her siblings, Doris Darlene (Charles) Stottsberry of Caldwell, Darla Jean Gallagher of Westerville, Joe Ginn of Cleveland, Norm Ginn of Senecaville, Connie Smith, Georgie Sharp, and Linda Ginn, all of Plymouth, Debbie Ginn of Cumberland, and Terri Teevin of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Sunday, February 19, 2023, from 4-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Monday, February 20th at 11AM with Rev. Tom Mattus officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later time at Halley’s Ridge Cemetery.
