Obituary for Mildred Mika
Mildred Mika, age 94, of Coal Ridge, Ohio, died Wednesday, December 21, 2016, at Summit Acres Nursing Home in Caldwell. She was born October 14, 1922, in Coal Ridge, daughter of the late Andrew and Susan Placko Mika. Miss Mika was a 1940 graduate of Belle Valley High School. She was employed as a custodian for Guernsey Memorial Hospital and for Shenandoah Elementary School, and many years ago she was also employed by the Ava Brick Plant. Along with her family, she owned and operated the family farm. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Pleasant City, and a member of the National Slovak Society for which she served as secretary-treasurer for many years. She loved playing bingo, cooking and baking, and she appeared as a contestant on the Ohio Lottery TV show, Cash Explosion.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two sisters, Sue Cepelnik and Mary Gallik; and five brothers, John, Joe, Andy, Martin, and Milan Mika.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and great-nephews, and her friends.
Friends may call Tuesday, December 27, 2016, from 4-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell. The funeral service will be observed Wednesday, December 28th at 11AM at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 10252 Pine Street, Pleasant City, with Rev. Andy Dzurovcik officiating. Burial will follow at Hiramsburg Cemetery.
