Obituary for Michael A. Sayre, Sr.
Michael A. Sayre, Sr., age 65, of Dexter City, Ohio, died Monday, April 29, 2019, at Summit Acres Nursing Home in Caldwell. He was born May 13, 1953, in Caldwell, son of the late Robert Leland and Donna Jean McDonald Sayre, Sr. He was a 1971 graduate of Caldwell High School. Early in his life, Mike worked on oil rigs and operated Sayre Service Station in Caldwell. He was also employed as a truck driver by Landair Transport. He attended Mary Reed United Methodist Church at Crooked Tree, and he enjoyed working on tractors and cars. Mike was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather who was devoted to his family, especially to his wife, kids, and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one son, Randy L. Sayre; and one brother, Joseph O’Neal Sayre.
Surviving are his wife, Kathy Lynn McCoy Sayre, whom he married December 26, 1999; his children, Michael A. (Melinda) Sayre of Caldwell and William O. (Kathy) Sayre of Zanesville; his step-children, Thomas D. Caldwell and Daniel H. (Tara) Caldwell, all of Marietta and Keri L. (David) Ainsworth of Bel Air, Maryland; his siblings, Robert L. “Skeet” (Carolyn) Sayre, Jr., Steven C. Sayre, James R. (Nancy) Sayre, Carla J. (Kenny) Clinger, and Catherine J. (Tim) Bond, all of Caldwell, and Donna E. (Jeff) Keith of Cumberland; 3 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Thursday, May 2, 2019, from 2-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Friday, May 3rd at 11AM with Pastor John Schafer officiating. Inurnment will be at Sharon Cemetery at a later time.
