Obituary for Melvin Roy Wentworth
Melvin Roy Wentworth, age 62, of Columbus, died Sunday (4/14/2002) in Columbus. He was born 7/27/1939 in Sarahsville, Ohio a son of Edith Franks Wentworth of Sarahsville and the late Roy Wentworth. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1957 and had served in Vietnam. He had served with the Ohio Air National Guard, 121st Tactical Fighter Group, having retired as Chief Master Sargent in 1994. He was a member of American Legion Post 430 in Bexley; Loyal Order of Moose #1245 in Whitehall and the Sarahsville United Methodist Church. He had owned and operated Mels Auto Body on Barnett Road in Columbus for the past 30 years. Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife Betty VanDyne Wentworth, whom he married 6/19/1960; 1 daughter Connie Wentworth Kuchler of Westerville; 1 son Perry Wentworth of Whitehall; grandsons Shaun & Scott Kuchler of Westerville; 1 brother Merlin (Rachel) Wentworth of Pleasant City; 2 nephws Steven & Matthew (Shelly) Wentworth of Sarahsville; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Friends may call Wednesday from 6 to 9 PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home in Caldwell, Ohio. Graveside services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM at Mt. Ephraim Cemetery in Mt. Ephraim, Ohio with the Rev. Wendy Erb officiating. Full military honors will be presented by the Ohio Air National Guard. The family requests memorials be made to the Nation Kidney Foundation
