Obituary for Mary L. Vaughn
Mary L. Vaughn, age 98, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Saturday, November 25, 2017, at Rose Lane Nursing Care Center in Massillon. She was born September 9, 1919, in South Olive, daughter of the late Fred and Gertie Ogle Haines. She was a 1937 graduate of Dexter City High School, and she was employed over the years by the Kroger Store, Kegris 5-10 Store, and Gray’s Store, all of Caldwell. Mary was a lifelong member of the New Harmony Baptist Church, and she loved quilting, sewing, crocheting, and working crossword puzzles.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one great-grandson, Nicholas Parcher; and one brother, Chalmer Haines.
Surviving are her husband, Jack W. Vaughn, whom she married January 31, 1942; two children, Terry M. (Paulette) Vaughn of Westlake and Joy C. (Duane) Jacobs of Canton; 6 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call Wednesday, November 29, 2017, from 12PM-2PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will follow visitation at 2PM with Pastor David Denny and Pastor Mark Leslie officiating. Burial will follow at South Olive Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Northern Ohio Chapter, 8001 Sweet Valley Drive, Suite 3, Valley View, Ohio, 44125.
