Obituary for Mary Jo McKown
Mary Jo McKown, age 80, of Macksburg, Ohio, died Tuesday, December 1, 2009, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was born July 20, 1929, in Mannington, West Virginia, daughter of the late Clarence Kirk Hennen and Nina Louise Hennen Satterfield. She was a homemaker and she was formerly employed as a nurses aide at Fairmont General Hospital. Mrs. McKown had operated the Mannington Cab Company and was employed at the former Ogle's Family Restaurant in Dexter City. She was a member of the Beegum Church near Mannington, and she loved to fish and listen to gospel music and books on tape. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Oval McKown, who died in 1984; one son, George Edward Snodgrass; one step-son, Robert McKown; one step-daughter, Margaret Stack; two step-granddaughters, Tina Schob and Janice McKown; her former husband, Jack Lee Snodgrass; two sisters, Helen Michaels and Pauline Gongolia; and one brother, Harold Hennen. Surviving are one daughter, Judy Lee (Dean) Hughey of Macksburg; one son, Daniel Kirk (Diane) Snodgrass of Newark; five step-sons, Eugene (Mary Lois) McKown of Crooked Tree, Charlie (Bonnie) McKown of Macksburg, Dean (Judy) McKown of Newport, Rodger (Rosie) McKown of Dungannon and Cecil (Debbie) McKown of Kimbolton; her extended family, Charlie Lee (Louise) Snodgrass of Moundsville, West Virginia, Dwight Elias (Mary) Snodgrass and Beth (Michael) Thompson, both of Mannington, West Virginia; one sister, Genevieve Blount of Fairmont, West Virginia; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call Thursday, December 3, 2009, from 4-8PM and Friday, December 4th from 11AM-1PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral will be observed Friday at 1PM with Pastor Ken Ogg officiating. Burial will follow at Dudley Cemetery.
