Obituary for Mary H. Baker
Mary H. Baker, age 95, of Caldwell, Ohio, formerly of Lewisville, Ohio, died Saturday, September 27, 2008, at her home. She was born July 9, 1913, on her family's farm near Stafford, Ohio, daughter of the late Alexander Dominic and Katherine Helena Young Baker. She was a 1932 graduate of the former Franklin Rural High School in Stafford, Monroe County, and she received one on one nurses training by the late Dr. Thompson. She was employed as a nurse by Dr. Thompson, and later employed by Aultman Hospital in Canton. In 1942, she started working as a purchasing agent at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, from which she retired in 1969 as the chief purchasing agent for B-52 bombers. She was a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ in Lewisville and its Women's Guild; a member of the Franklin Homemakers Club in Franklin Twp., and a member of the Amazon Chapter #30, Order of the Eastern Star in Caldwell. She was also a trustee of the Baker Family Museum in Caldwell, which was established to preserve the Baker family antique collection, which they share with the community. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by four brothers, John C. Baker, Charles Gilbert 'Gib' Baker, Carl Lewis Baker, Sr., and Joseph Baker; and an infant sister, Bernice Elizabeth Baker. Surviving are one nephew, Carl L. (Susan) Baker, Jr. of Caldwell; one great-nephew, Benjamin Dominic Baker of Caldwell; one step-great-niece, Anna Gale Burns of Caldwell; one step-great-nephew, K. Marshall Burns, Jr. of Caldwell; a sister-in-law, Jewell I. Baker of Caldwell; her longtime friend and caregiver, Sharon K. Davis of Pleasant City; and a host of cousins, special friends, and acquaintances. Friends may call Tuesday, September 30, 2008, from 4-9PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where an Eastern Star service will be observed at 7:30PM. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 1st at 11AM at the funeral home with Pastor Karen Binford officiating. Burial will follow at Olive Cemetery, Caldwell. Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity United Church of Christ, 47345 Lewisville Northern Road, Lewisville, Ohio, 43754, or to a charity of one's choice.
