Obituary for Mary Frances Childress
Mary Frances Childress, age 68, of Marietta, Ohio, died Thursday, November 30, 2017, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was born January 6, 1949, in Cabin Creek, West Virginia, daughter of the late John B. and Nannie Faye Pack Stanley. She was a 1967 graduate of Caldwell High School, and she was employed over the years by American Greetings and as a pharmacy tech for CVS Pharmacy. Mary was a member of the Marietta Moose Lodge, an associate member of the Marietta Post #64, American Legion, and the Washington County Red Hatters. She was Baptist by faith. Mary enjoyed playing cards and dominoes at the home of her friend, Sharon Corbitt, and eating out with the Tuesday Night Group. She also enjoyed crocheting and watching programs on the Food Network.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by an infant sister, Linda Faye Massey; and one brother, William Eggleton.
Surviving are her husband, Thomas E. Childress, whom she married in 2003; her children, Amanda (Pat) Peroni of Beverly, Yolanda Stine of Marietta, and Blythe (Ben) Anderson of Barlow; her step-children, Lawrence (Stephani) Brown and William (Kathryn) Childress, both of Newport, Elizabeth (Aaron) Petrie of Gallipolis, and George (Teri) Childress of Marathon, Florida; her siblings, Thomas (Dotty) Pack, Doris (David) Addlespurger, and Paul M. Massey, all of Macksburg, Clyde (Judy) Massey of Cleveland, North Carolina, Patricia Hughes of Caldwell; 15 grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be observed on Saturday, December 16, 2017, at 11:30 AM at the Macksburg United Methodist Church, 390 Mechanic Street in Macksburg. McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, is caring for the family.
