Martha Jean Miller, age 79, of Cambridge, Ohio, formerly of Byesville, died Wednesday, July 19, 2006, at SE Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge. She was born February 28, 1927, in Muskingum County, daughter of the late Chester Cassell and Ada F. Magers Harrop. She was a 1945 graduate of Roseville High School, and attended the Bethesda School of Nursing, Muskingum College, and the U.S. Army Nurses Corps, becoming a licensed practical nurse. She was employed by Rocky Glen Hospital, the former Guernsey Memorial Hospital, and later became a school nurse for the Rolling Hills School District, from which she retired in 1991. Mrs. Miller was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, Byesville, and its Women's Missionary Circle, and the Daughters of the American Revolution Legion Post, Cambridge. Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Harold E. Miller, Sr., whom she married December 6, 1948, and who died November 15, 1996; and three sisters, Faye M. Harrop, Nola M. Harrop Lawson Ashley, and Ina Pletcher. Surviving are two sons, Harold E. 'Ed' (Vicki) Miller, Jr., of Pleasant City and Richard Alan (Melinda) Miller of Cambridge; a step-daughter, Mrs. Lloyd R. (Carol Ann) Neff of Byesville; 7 grandchildren, Brian R. (Tammy) Neff, Mrs. Brent (Teresa) Gallagher, Andy (Denise) Miller, Russell E. (Katie) Miller, Mrs. Owen (Jamie C.) Williams, Jeramie Miller, and Amanda Miller; 8 great-grandchildren, Mrs. Chris (Ashley) Jackson, Candace Neff, Matthew Starr, Mallori Neff, Benita Gallagher, Brice Gallagher, Colton Miller, and Hunter Miller; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call Friday, July 21, 2006, from 4-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, Caldwell, where the service will be Saturday, July 22, at 11AM with Pastor Dennis Rost officiating. Burial will follow at Virginia Ridge Cemetery, Philo, Ohio.
