Obituary for Marlene J. Teters
Marlene J. Teters, age 79, of Belle Valley, Ohio, died Tuesday, February 19, 2019, at Hospice of Central Ohio in Newark. She was born July 15, 1939, daughter of Dorothy M. “Dottie” Ball Perkins of Ava and the late Charles W. “Woody” Teters. She was a 1957 graduate of Belle Valley High School. Marlene drove a bus for her grandfather, Clyde Teters, for several years, and she was employed as a custodian for Belle Valley Elementary School. She was also employed by many plastic plants, retiring in 2007 from Plastech in Byesville. She was a member of the Caldwell Church of the Nazarene, and she attended Faith Baptist Church in Belle Valley. She was a devoted Christian, and she drove her grandmother, Ola Teters, to churches where she would preach. She enjoyed taking many people to church and she loved helping everyone she came in contact with. Marlene enjoyed woodworking and was known for making walking sticks, lamps, and rings.
In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by her step-father, Clarence E. “Bud” Perkins; two sisters, Twila M. Wheeler and infant sister Delores Perkins; and a special longtime friend, Naomi Jean Wilson.
Surviving in addition to her mother are Mark E. (Crystal) Wilson of Caldwell, whom she considered her son; her siblings, Sandy L. (Alfred) Moore of Florida, Fred P. (Sandra) Perkins of New Johnsonville, Tennessee, James W. (Darla) Perkins of Ava, Edwin D. (Yvonne) Perkins of Pleasant City, and Charles L. “Chuck” Teters of Caldwell; a brother-in-law, Robert Wheeler of Cambridge; two grandsons, Mark E. Wilson, Jr. of Belle Valley and Matthew J. Wilson of Cambridge; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her beloved dog, Buster.
Friends may call Thursday, February 21, 2019, from 3-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Friday, February 22nd at 11AM with Pastor John Powell and Pastor Larry Copley officiating. Burial will follow at Hoskinsville Cemetery.
