Marion Blake Pickenpaugh, age 73, of Caldwell, Ohio, died September 6, 2022, at her home. She was born December 2, 1948, in Weston, West Virginia, daughter of the late Madrill Yerkey Blake. Marion graduated from Weston High School in West Virginia, and Ohio Valley College, and she earned a Master’s Degree from Ohio University. While a student at OVC, Marion was a member of the choir and a missionary to Central America. She retired following 32 years of service at Caldwell Elementary School. She had a tireless and passionate devotion to her students. After retirement, she served as a long term substitute teacher at both Caldwell and Shenandoah Elementary Schools.
Marion was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Anya Crum Huie; sisters, Mary Jo Lang Hart and Elizabeth Ann “Jerry” Lang Williams; and brothers-in-law, Carl Hart and Leonard “Tuck” Williams.
She is survived by her husband, Roger Pickenpaugh, whom she married August 2, 1994; her daughter, Jocelyn (Patrick) Crum Brooks of Centreville, Virginia; granddaughter, Parker Dianne Brooks; grandson, Patrick Harrison Brooks; son-in-law, Mike Huie; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved cats, Mason, Lelah, and Lilly.
Friends may call Saturday, September 10, 2022, from 1-3PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where a celebration of life service will follow at 3PM with Brent Smith officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Anya Crum Huie Memorial Scholarship at Marietta College at www.marietta.edu/give or to PAWS, Inc., Humane Society of Noble County at www.noblepawsinc.com.
