Obituary for Marilyn Jean Archer
Marilyn Jean Archer, age 83, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Thursday, January 5, 2017, at her home. She was born July 26, 1933, in Middleburg, daughter of the late Charles Leland “Pete” and Sarah Grace Spence Eichhorn. She was a 1950 graduate of Elk Local High School in Harriettsville. Jean tended bar for the Golden Plaza and The Hideout, and she also served as manager for the Belle Valley American Legion Post #641 for 32 years, and she was employed for a time at Summit Acres Nursing Home. She was a member of the Belle Valley American Legion Auxiliary.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James Reed Archer, who died in January, 1990; two daughters, Linda Mae Nichols and Jane Ann Stanbery; two sisters, Virginia Sue Chandler and Bertha Ann Chandler; and four brothers, Donald Lee, Richard Charles, Leland Frederick, and Harold Lewis Eichhorn.
Surviving are one son, James Reed Archer, Jr., of Caldwell; one daughter, Jody Lynn (William) Bond of Caldwell; two sisters, Thelma Grace Brownlee of Colorado and Martha Mae (James) Myers of Akron; two brothers, Charles Edward (Marlene) Eichhorn of Reno and David Dean Eichhorn of Barlow; her grandchildren, James R. Archer, III, Dustin Golay, Olivia (Eric) Cunningham, Amy (Dave) Buckles, Aaron (Megan) Hupp, Stephen Thomas, Tyler Nichols, Alex Nichols, Sarah (Tim) Lanning, Molly (Shawn) Lowry, Jessica (Steve) DeLancey, Jenna (Karl) Kendall, and Jorge Wilkos (Andrea Wood); and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Sunday, January 8, 2017, from 2-4 and 6-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Monday, January 9th at 1:30PM with Pastor Larry Copley officiating. Burial will follow at Barlow Cemetery.
