Obituary for Marie JoAnn Buckey
Marie JoAnn Buckey, age 96, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Sunday, October 10, 2021, at Altercare Summit Acres. She was born February 1, 1925, in Ava, daughter of the late John V. and Gertrude Burlingame Buckey. She retired in 1986 from Republic Steel in Massillon, where she was a secretary. Marie was an active member of Central Presbyterian Church in Massillon. She was a member of several card clubs while she was able and was an accomplished bridge player. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, working in her yard and she enjoyed flowers. She also enjoyed driving her friends to activities and appointments. Marie loved shopping, especially for the babies and children in her family. After having a stroke, Marie remained active at the senior apartments where she lived and enjoyed the company of her friends and neighbors. She will be remembered for her loving, giving spirit and her service to others.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one sister, Delores Pierce; and three brothers, Dale, Harlan, and Thomas Buckey.
Surviving are many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Wednesday, October 13, 2021, from 11AM-2PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will follow visitation at 2PM with Ken Perkins officiating. Burial will follow at Halley’s Ridge Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Guernsey at www.hospiceofguernsey.com.
