Obituary for Margaret Marilyn Chicwak
Margaret Marilyn Younger Chicwak, age 100, of Caldwell, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2019, at Summit Acres Nursing Home in Caldwell. She was born August 30, 1918, in Noble County, the youngest child of the late Joseph and Mary Dovec Younger, who immigrated to America from Eastern Europe in 1904. Margaret worked as an assembler for RCA and NCR in Cambridge, Ohio, for several years before retiring to help on the family dairy farm. She was a member of the Corpus Christi CWC and the first Catholic Slavic Union. She loved cooking her Slovak foods and baking her nut rolls to give all, well into her 90s. She also enjoyed entertaining family and friends from the Cleveland area several times during the year, especially deer hunters.
She is preceded in death by her husband, George Chicwak, in 1980; her son, James, in 2008; her brothers, Joe, John, and Steve; and her sisters, Mary, Sue, Ann, Julia, and Elaine.
Surviving are three daughters, Shirley (George) Spence of Enon, and Karen (Lynn) Mallett and Regina (Chris) Crock, and daughter-in-law, Ruth Chicwak, all of Caldwell; her grandchildren, Jimmy Chicwak, Carol (Andy) Pakes, John Chicwak, Lori (Colby) Blair, Lisa (Mike) Zeller, Linda (Justin) Shidu, Sherry Trenner, Janay (Mark) Eisenmenger, and Renee Mallett; her step-grandchildren, Gordon (Diane) Wheatley and Barbara (Greg) Clark; 14 great-grandchildren; 6 step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Friday, August 16, 2019, from 3-7PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where a Christian Vigil service will be observed at 6:30PM. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be observed Saturday, August 17th at 10:30AM at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Belle Valley with Rev. Fr. Wayne Morris as celebrant. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Caldwell.
