Obituary for Margaret E. "Eileen" Davis
Margaret E. “Eileen” Davis, age 95, of Stockport, Ohio, passed away Thursday, September 8, 2016, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was born August 3, 1921, in East Union, the eldest daughter of the late Ralph “Joe Pete” and Margaret Poling Archer. She was a 1938 graduate of Summerfield High School, and during World War II, she was employed as a telephone operator in Zanesville. Following the war, Eileen married her husband, Ralph, and together they owned and operated a dairy in Caldwell, and a beef operation in Morgan County. In her later years, she farmed along with her sons, Brad and Jeff. She attended East Union United Methodist Church, and she enjoyed working on crossword puzzles. She loved being with and helping her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Ralph Davis, whom she married in 1949, and who died in 1980; one son, Jeffrey Davis, who died in 1992; one sister, Faye Crabtree; two brothers, Carlos Archer and John Archer; and infant brother and sister, Ralph Archer, Jr. and Leona Archer.
Surviving are one son, Bradley K. (Kathy M.) Davis of Stockport; four grandchildren, Andrea Stroud of Lawrenceburg, Indiana, April Davis of Beverly, and Will Davis and Art Davis, both of Stockport; 7 great-grandchildren, Joshua Stroud, Reilly Stroud, Cohen Hopkins, Aidan Hopkins, Jefferson Davis, Quintin Davis, and Maya Davis; two sisters, Lucille Bates of East Union and Nancy (Junior) Howell of Cambridge; one brother, Marvin (Leitha) Archer of Olathe, Kansas; and many special nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Sunday, September 11, 2016, from 1PM-2PM at the East Union United Methodist Church, Doshie Road, Caldwell, where the funeral service will follow visitation at 2PM with Pastor Beverly Pottmeyer and Pastor Helen Lewis officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later time at Olive Cemetery in Caldwell.
