Obituary for Mae Gardner
Mae Gardner, age 96, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Wednesday, February 6, 2008, at Summit Acres Nursing Home, Caldwell. She was born November 18, 1911, in Sharon, Ohio, daughter of the late Pearley C. and Jessie Steen Lawrence. She worked for many years as an LPN for Dr. Sherman Smith and Dr. Ben Jenkins. She was a member of the Bell's United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School for over 50 years. Mae loved her family and her many friends. She spent many hours crocheting, knitting, and quilting. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Leonard W. Gardner, whom she married May 7, 1927, and who died December 24, 1961; one son, Darl D. Gardner; one sister, Mildred I. Pickenpaugh; two brothers, Herbert F. and George E. Lawrence; and one daughter-in-law, Wanda Gardner. Surviving are two sons, Joseph Earl (Mary A.) Gardner of Waynesburg and Dale E. Gardner of Caldwell; one daughter-in-law, Irene Gardner of Louisville; one sister, Clarice M. Cisler of Newark; one brother, Carlos B. (Rose) Lawrence of Caldwell; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nepehws. Friends may call Friday, February 8, 2008, from 2-4 and 6-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be held Saturday, February 9th at 1PM with Pastor Helen Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at Dudley Cemetery, Caldwell.
