Obituary for Mabel Irene Archer
Mabel Irene Archer (July 29, 1917 – October 19, 2015)
On October 19th, at 6:21 a.m., our precious mother, 98 years young, quietly and peacefully took her last breath on this earth and her first breath in heaven. Born to Nelson and Ada Leasure from Caldwell, Ohio, she is preceded by her parents, her brother, Irvin, twin sisters, Nora and Dora, and her husband, Dean Archer. She is survived by her son William N. (wife, Beth) Archer and daughter, Joanie Archer; her two grandsons, Bill and Guy (wife, Linda) and great-granddaughter, Emma Archer. There is also a combination of 63 family members ranging from first generation nieces and nephews to fourth generation. A loving and special thank you to niece Susie and Darrell Pennington for their love and support through the years. They are a rock to all of the family.
Mother’s dedication and love for her family and friends was shown through her love for God. In her lifetime of accomplishments, she worked as PBX operator, executive secretary for several companies, then to the Guernsey County Senior Center and the GCDJFS, where she learned the computer at age 87 and then retired at 89! She received special awards far too many to mention, but all she worked with said, “exemplary employee, an inspiration, always smiling in spirit, uplifting, most sincere, etc.”
Mother would tell you her greatest and most rewarding joy was her two children and being a prayer warrior for Christ. Up and until her last thoughts, we saw mother with her hands together, praying quietly all of the time. She said, “God gave this responsibility and the power to heal through Him to me, and when it is done, I will go quickly!” As a daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, and for so many that she didn’t know, her final words were the Lord’s. Mother was an amazing and remarkable human being and God gifted her with the ability to see beauty and create from it, sing beautifully, loved her music, the piano, loved to dance, and oh…what a sense of humor! But more than all of this, there was this unique security we all felt when she would say “I will pray for you”, and she did, and her prayers were answered. There is a quiet and peaceful void now, and we all know you are smiling down from heaven. We will see you again…Great is our reward!
