Obituary for Lyle F. 'Shorty' Clifton
Lyle F. 'Shorty' Clifton, age 78, of New Concord, Ohio, died Monday, January 2, 2012, at SE Ohio Regional Medical Center in Cambridge. He was born October 24, 1933, in Eagleport, Ohio, son of the late Walter E. and Alice E. Kildow Clifton. He was a graduate of McConnelsville High School, and he retired in 1997 as a general foreman from Malta Manufacturing in McConnelsville following 44 years of service. Mr. Clifton owned and operated a gun shop in Eagleport for several years. He formerly attended the Newcomerstown United Methodist Church. He enjoyed motorcycling. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Elaine Clifton; one son, Terry Clifton; one grandson, Jessie Clifton; one sister, Neta Clifton; and one brother, Gene Clifton. Surviving are his wife, Gloris Chandler Clifton, whom he married October 24, 2005; one daughter, Cathy Osborn of McConnelsville; one son, Fred Clifton of McConnelsville; one brother, Bill Clifton of McConnelsville; 6 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. At Mr. Clifton's request, cremation will be observed with no visitation or funeral service at this time. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, c/5455 N.
