Lydia M. Thompson, age 78, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Friday, June 21, 2013, at Summit Acres Nursing Home in Caldwell. She was born February 3, 1935, in Grundy, Virginia, daughter of the late James Lawson and Lou Amie Stiltner Ratliff. She was formerly employed as a surgical tech for Selby General Hospital in Marietta. Mrs. Thompson was baptized in Grundy, Virginia, when she was 18 years old, and she was a member of the First Church of Christ in Caldwell. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one daughter, Jackie Lynn Childress, who died August 10, 1962; two sisters, Mary Dorothy Stevenson and Nellie Gaye Coffee; and two brothers, Jessie Ratliff and Lonnie Ervin Ratliff. Surviving are her husband, Nelson B. Thompson, whom she married March 21, 1992; one daughter, Beverly Kay (William) Taylor of Beverly; three step-sons, Gary (Kim) Thompson and Brian (Lisa) Thompson, both of Caldwell, and Mike (Karen) Thompson of Cumberland; two sisters, Retha Carol Hutchinson of Grundy, Virginia, and Stella June Mullins of Mt. Carmel, Tennessee; one brother, James Ratliff of Malta; 13 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call Monday, June 24, 2013, from 2-4 and 6-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Tuesday, June 25th at 11AM with Pastor Dale Hunt officiating. Burial will follow at Dudley Cemetery.
