Obituary for Lucille Virginia Watson
Lucille Delph Watson, age 89, of Sarahsville, Ohio, died Wednesday, July 29, 2009, at The Beckett House in New Concord. She was born October 29, 1919, in Louisville, Kentucky, daughter of the late William L. Delph and Estelle Badgett Delph Dettra. She was a homemaker and a member of the Sarahsville United Methodist Church. She was also a 55 year member of Amazon Chapter #30 OES in Caldwell. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Alva C. Watson, whom she married May 22, 1937, and who died in 1967; one son, Dwight H. Watson; one grandson, Dwight Watson, II; and a half-brother, Herman Dettra; her maternal grandparents, Edward L. and Stella Wheeler Badgett; and her paternal grandparents, William Louis and Julianna Hanrahan Delph. Surviving are one son, Wayne W. (Holly J.) Watson of Marietta; three granddaughters, Catherine (Steve) Boyles of Columbus, Margaret (John) Thomas of New Concord, and Elizabeth Watson of Columbus; two grandsons, Stephen (Denise) Watson of Sarahsville and A.J. (Vanessa) Watson of Parkersburg, West Virginia; a half- sister, Carolyn Jane Dettra Rich of Senecaville; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Friends may call Friday, July 31, 2009, from 4-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where an Eastern Star service will be observed at 7:30PM. The funeral service will be held Saturday, August 1, 2009 at 11AM at the Sarahsville United Methodist Church with Rev. Thomas Gruver officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Ephraim Cemetery.
