Obituary for Louella M. "Peg" Smith
Louella M. “Peg” Smith, age 75, of Elba, Ohio, died Saturday, April 18, 2015, at Summit Acres Nursing Home in Caldwell. She was born June 25, 1939, in Elba, daughter of the late Hobert and Sara Correne Hupp Travis. She was formerly employed as a cook for Macksburg Schools and Ogle’s Restaurant in Macksburg. She retired as a nurse’s aide from Summit Acres Nursing Home following many years of service, and where she was devoted to her many patients. She attended Elba Community Church and Macksburg United Methodist Church. Mrs. Smith enjoyed flowers, cooking and baking, and she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, David Smith, whom she married May 15, 1954, and who died June 13, 2013; and three brothers, Holby, Ray and Harley Travis.
Surviving are one daughter, Janet Smith Evans of Elba; one son, Mark (Karen) Smith of Elba; one brother, Don Travis of Fredrickstown; her grandchildren, Angela Wriston, David Evans, Jeff (Lyric) Smith, and Kristy (Brian) Weaver; her great-grandchildren, Randy (Crystal) Evans and Kaleene Jett; her great-great-grandchildren, Chandler Evans, Zoey and Logan Evans, and Delilah McCormick; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Monday, April 20, 2015, from 4-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Tuesday, April 21st at 11AM with Ken Perkins and Pastor Thurman Harmon officiating. Burial will follow at Lund Cemetery in Macksburg.
