Obituary for Lois O. Stiers
Lois O. Stiers, age 94, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Monday, January 21, 2013, at Summit Acres Nursing Home in Caldwell. She was born July 17, 1918, in Noble County, Ohio, daughter of the late Mort and Jenny Gillepsie Hitchens. She was a graduate of Belle Valley High School, and she was a homemaker. She was employed for a time with the Noble County Auditor’s office and the Noble Soil and Water Conservation office. She also sold Avon products. She enjoyed quilting, crafting, and flowers. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John Wayne Stiers, whom she married April 3, 1940, and who died July 15, 2006; and one sister, Mildred Hickman. Surviving are one daughter, Barbara (Dave) Wells of Caldwell; two sons, Rick (Connie) Stiers of Caldwell and Gary (Chawn) Stiers of Cumberland; one sister, Frances Niswonger of Caldwell; 13 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and one nephew. Friends may call Thursday, January 24, 2013, from 4-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell. A graveside service will be observed Saturday, January 26, 2013, at 11AM at Hiramsburg Cemetery with Pastor Keith Taylor officiating.
