Obituary for Lois Jeanne Byrd
Lois Jeanne Byrd, age 80, of Dexter City, Ohio, died Thursday, July 7, 2016, at SE Ohio Regional Medical Center in Cambridge. She was born October 22, 1935, in Ritchie County, West Virginia, daughter of the late Elias C. and Daisy Doris Wadsworth Byrd. She was a graduate of Harrisville High School in Harrisville, West Virginia, and she retired from NCR in Cambridge where she worked in the circuit board department. She was also employed as a housekeeper for Summit Acres Nursing Home in Caldwell, and for Adecco Temporary Services at the Colegate plant in Cambridge. Lois was an active member of the Mary Reed Memorial United Methodist Church in Crooked Tree, where she served as a lay speaker and was active in Vacation Bible School programs. She played the piano for the Mary Reed, Macksburg, and Dexter City United Methodist Churches, and she also played the piano for church services at Summit Acres Nursing Home. Besides the piano, she also played the guitar, banjo, and dulcimer, and she had written several songs. She loved music, and she enjoyed traveling.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two brothers, Leonard Byrd and Leon (Sue) Byrd.
Surviving are her siblings, Ronald (Joanna) Byrd of Hazel Green, West Virginia, June (John) Conrad of Breman, Ohio, Norma Conrad of Somerset, Ohio, Lendel (Jacqueline) Byrd of Caldwell, and Kenton (Marlene) Byrd of Michigan; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may call Monday, July 11, 2016, from 3-7PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at 11AM with Pastor Timothy Thomas and Pastor Ken Ogg officiating. Inurnment will take place at Crooked Tree Cemetery at a later time.
