Leona M. Hutchins, age 90, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Monday, August 18, 2014, at Hospice of Lake Cumberland in Somerset, Kentucky. She was born October 7, 1923, in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, daughter of the late Murrel J. and Edna Mae Cain Tinney. She was a 1941 graduate of Waynesville High School. During World War II, she was employed at The Shoe Factory in Kings Mills, and she was also employed by NCR in Cambridge and Delco in Dayton. She was a homemaker, and she was a member of the Caldwell Church of the Nazarene, member and past president of the Caldwell VFW Auxiliary Post #4721, and a member of the Belle Valley American Legion Auxiliary Post #641. Leona enjoyed quilting, sewing, working word puzzles, and playing cards. She loved her family.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John G. Hutchins, who died in October, 1990; one granddaughter, Teresa L. Border; one sister, Mary Ann Conley; and two brothers, Robert M. Tinney and Willard D. Tinney.
Surviving are three daughters, Barbara L. Border of Cumberland, Ohio, and Frances E. Kenison and Beverly J. Knight, both of Bronston, Kentucky; three sisters, Betty J. Waterhouse, Wanda L. Worrell, and Alice O’Dell, all of Miamisburg, Ohio; one brother, Kenneth Tinney of Honeyville, Utah; 8 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may call Thursday, August 21, 2014, from 4-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral will be observed Friday, August 22nd at 11AM with Pastor John Powell officiating. Burial will follow at Dudley Cemetery.
