Obituary for Lawrence Albert Winkler
Lawrence Albert Winkler, age 87, of Caldwell, Ohio died Tuesday morning (4/26/2005) at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center in Cambridge, Ohio. He was born 11/7/1917 near Clarington, Monroe County, Ohio a son of the late Albert G. and Mary M. Marty Winkler. Mr. Winkler was a member of Zion United Church of Christ in Hannibal, Ohio and had attended the First Presbyterian Church in Caldwell, Ohio for many years. He was a WWII Army Veteran having served on Okinawa. Mr. Winkler retired as a Technician for the Noble County Soil and Water Conservation Service; had worked for ten years at the former Gateway Market in Caldwell and was a member of Hannibal Post #760 American Legion for 56 years. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his first wife Ruth Lindenmeyer Winkler who died 12/1/1945; 3 brothers Godfrey, Herman & Homer Winkler; 1 sister Martha Winkler and 1 granddaughter Julie Annette Brown. Surviving is his wife Arlene Mae Bauman Winkler whom he married 6/6/1948; 1 daughter Judy Ann (Jon N.) Brown of Caldwell and 1 granddaughter Jody Annell (Jonathan) Glance of Cleveland. Friends may call Friday (4/29/2005) from 2 to 9 PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home in Caldwell, Ohio. Funeral services will be held Saturday (4/30/2005) at 11 AM at First Presbyterian Church in Caldwell with the Rev. Ken Hyland officiating. Burial will follow at Zion Memorial Gardens in Hannibal, Ohio where military honors will be observerd by Hannibal Post #760 American Legion. The family requests that memorials be made to Zion United Church of Christ or First Presbyterian Church.
