Obituary for Larry L. Rutherford
Larry L. Rutherford, age 65, of Sarahsville, Ohio, died Tuesday, January 22, 2008, at Summit Acres Nursing Home, Caldwell, Ohio. He was born August 18, 1942, in Caldwell, son of the late Cecil H. and Martha Rebecca 'Sally' Rutherford. He was a 1960 graduate of Sarahsville High School and a 1964 graduate of Ohio State University with a bachelor of arts degree in geography. He was also a 1966 graduate of the University of Georgia, Athens, receiving a master's degree in geography. He briefly served in the Peace Corps in India. He was formerly employed with the Noble County Soil and Water Conservation Office for several years; for Nationwide Insurance in Columbus; and for the state of Ohio Bureau of Workman's Comp as a claims adjuster. He helped his parents on the family dairy farm, and returned to the farm upon his retirement. He was a fan and supporter of WOSU Radio in Columbus. He is survived by his friend of 40 years, Robert E. Horvat of Newark; three brothers, Branson Reed (Malinda) Rutherford of Carroll, Ohio, John (Teruko) Rutherford of Okinawa, Japan, and Richard (Carolyn) Rutherford of Caldwell; one aunt, Jane Martin of Frankfort, Kentucky; and several nieces, nephews, including Michael F. Rutherford of Henderson, Nevada, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
