Obituary for Kora E. Perkins
Kora E. Perkins, age 82, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Thursday, March 25, 2021, at Altercare Summit Acres. She was born June 3, 1938, in Akron, daughter of the late Charles Nolan and Minnie Myrl Bennett Carr. She was a 1956 graduate of Valley Local High School in Buffalo, Ohio, and she was employed by NCR in Cambridge for several years. She was instrumental in the development of the Golden Rule School and GNC Workshop in Byesville, and she served as a foster mom for Guernsey County Children’s Services for several years. She also served for a time on the Noble County Board of Developmental Disabilities. Kora was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Belle Valley and its Willow Tree Widows Group, and was a member of Guernsey County Chapter #211, Order of the Eastern Star. She was a homemaker, a devoted caregiver to her daughter Patti, and a beloved mother and grandmother to her family.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth E. Perkins, Jr., whom she married May 10, 1958, and who died April 8, 2016; three sisters, Virginia Templeton, Ruth Fowler, and Joanne Carr; and five brothers, William, Wilbert, Robert, Donald, and Arthur Carr.
Surviving are her children, Ken (Robin) Perkins of Caldwell and Patti Perkins of Cambridge; one grandson, Kasey (Emilee) Perkins of Caldwell; one great-granddaughter, Kenna Marie Perkins; her siblings, Linda Cain of Canton, Gary (Linda) Carr of Richfield, and Alice (Roger) Stull of Pickerington; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
At Kora’s request, a private service will be observed by her family. The funeral service will be livestreamed on the McVay-Perkins Funeral Home Facebook page Tuesday at 1PM for friends and family with Pastors Larry Copley, Chuck Carr, and John Powell officiating. Burial will be at Olive Cemetery.
