Obituary for Kenneth Hickman
Kenneth Hickman, age 87, of Caldwell, Ohio, went to be with the Lord Monday, Janaury 23, 2012, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Zanesville. He was born January 29, 1924, in Noble County, son of the late Theodore and Julie Ann Van Dyne Hickman. He was the youngest of eleven children. He was a World War II Army veteran, having served in the Pacific Theater. He worked for the B&O Railroad and retired in 1980 from the former Gould plant in Caldwell where he was employed as a senior inspector. Mr. Hickman was a member of The Church of God of Prophecy in Cambridge, for which he served as Sunday School superintendent and was a member of the finance committee for many years. He met the love of his life, Betty Jewel Hupp, when he was fourteen years old, and they were married on September 8, 1942, at the age of eighteen. They were married for 62 years. He is preceded in death by his wife Betty on December 22, 2004; one son, Kelvin Hickman, who died December 26, 1992; four sisters, Luella Moore, Clara Roberts, and Martha and Hannah Hickman; and six brothers, Dewey, Levi, Jessie, Harry, Dennis, and Walter Hickman. Surviving are his children, Janice (Leo) Gibson of Caldwell, Kenneth R. 'Ronnie' (Linda) Hickman of Caldwell, Joyce Young of Caldwell, and Debra (Jack) Hansis of Marietta; one sister-in-law, Eileen Hickman of Lisbon; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call Thursday, January 26, 2012, from 2-4 and 6-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Friday, January 27th at 1PM with Pastor Robert Lawson officiating. A military graveside service will follow at Village View Cemetery in Sarahsville, conducted by the Noble County Veteran Service Organizations.
