Obituary for Katheryn L. Johnson
Katheryn L. Johnson, age 73, of Mt. Ephraim, Ohio, died Tuesday, October 20, 2015, at Summit Acres Nursing Home in Caldwell. She was born November 25, 1941, in Summerfield, daughter of the late Charlie Shackle and Helen K. Barnes Cunningham Shackle Oliver. She was a 1959 graduate of Summerfield High School, and she was a graduate of the LPN program at Ohio University, Zanesville. She was employed by the Noble County Treasurer’s office along with her husband, Marvin, who served as Noble County Treasurer. She was also employed by Guernsey Memorial Hospital in Cambridge as an LPN, and she retired from there as a medical transcriptionist. Mrs. Johnson was a member of the Mt. Ephraim United Methodist Church and its United Methodist Women, a member of Noble County Performing Arts, and a member of the Mt. Ephraim Homemakers Club. She was a former 4-H advisor, and she volunteered for many charities, including Lutheran Social Services. She enjoyed gospel music, especially Elvis and the Oak Ridge Boys, and she loved to cook, garden, sing, and she loved her cats. She was a woman of faith.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one brother, Ward Cunningham; one great-granddaughter, Norah Johnson; and a sister-in-law, Carolyn Johnson
Surviving are her husband, Marvin L. Johnson, whom she married December 5, 1959; her children, Stephen L. (Ruth) Johnson of Mt. Ephraim, Brian L. (Kate) Johnson of Summerfield, Lisa L. Woodford (Fred Kruse of Grove City) of Mt. Ephraim, and Darci L. (Shawn) Wagner of Powell; 11 grandchildren, Stephen M. (Julie) Johnson, Timothy M. (Kendra) Johnson, Matthew D. (Hope) Johnson, Josh (Jenny) Stiers, Jessica (Kevin) Rose, Suzanne (Chris) Clark, Kassandra (Brian) Shafer, Seth A. (Bethany) Woodford, and Lauren, Brooke, and Colton Wagner; and 9 great-grandchildren, Gage and Grace Johnson, Ryan Stiers, Jenna and Tyler Rose, Waylon and Wyatt Clark, and Cole and Cody Shafer; and one brother-in-law, Darl Johnson of Caldwell.
A private family graveside service will be observed at Eastern Cemetery in Summerfield. Memorial contributions may be made to Mt.
