Judith A. “Judy” Christmas, age 72, of Macksburg, Ohio, died Thursday, January 19, 2023, at Camden-Clark Medical Center in Parkersburg, West Virginia. She was born July 8, 1950, in Phelps, Kentucky, daughter of the late Everett H. and Pearl Ann Charles Dotson. She was a 1968 graduate of Phelps High School. Judy was a beloved mother and homemaker who worked in school cafeterias and volunteered at The Samaritan House in Caldwell. She was a member of the Macksburg United Methodist Church. She enjoyed making crafts, fishing, reading, and riding motorcycles. She loved spending time with family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Darvin Christmas, who died in 2001; 6 sisters, Virginia Brobst, Jeanette Griffey, Faye Fritsche, Phoebe Moore, Betty Christmas and Gaye Michaels; and 5 brothers, Bernard Dotson, Bruce Dotson, Paul Dotson, Robert Dotson, and Terry Dotson.
Surviving are longtime companion, Richard C. Slater of Macksburg; her children, Jonathan A. (Clarissa) Collins of Ransom, Kentucky, Clifton D. Collins of Ohio, Brad Slater of Dexter City, and Richard Slater of Caldwell; 8 grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be observed Saturday, January 21, 2023, at 2PM at the Macksburg United Methodist Church, 390 Mechanic Street, Macksburg, Ohio, with Pastor Rick Carpenter officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later time at Olive Cemetery in Caldwell. McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, is caring for the family.
