Obituary for Joyce Marlene Davis
Joyce Marlene Davis, age 59, of Slaters Road, Caldwell, Ohio, died Monday afternoon (11/11/2002) at Summit Acres Nursing Home in Caldwell, Ohio, follwing a short illness. She was born 2/13/1943 at Caldwell, Ohio a daughter of the late Clinton Wayne & Sarah Mae Nichelson Willey. She was a 1961 graduate of Caldwell High School and had worked for 23 years as business manager for General Motors Dealerships including Cowgills Chevrolet in Caldwell, Bob's of Barnesville and subsequently Whitesides in Barnesville. Currently she was employed as the Director of the Joyce M. Davis Senior Citizens Center in Caldwell. Joyce was active and widely known in business, professional and civic organizations. She was Past Worthy Matron of Amazon Chapter #30 Order of the Eastern Star; Past President of the Noble County Chamber of Commerce; Past President of the Noble County Business & Professional Women's Organization; member of the Ohio Business & Professional Women's Organization in which she had held regional and state offices. Joyce was a founding member of Leadership Noble; was a member of the Citizens Advisory Board at the Noble Correctional Institution and a board member for the Ohio Hills Chapter of the American Red Cross. She had attended Keith United Methodist Church in Keithtown, Ohio. Surviving are her husband Virgil 'Butch' Davis whom she married 4/16/1966; 5 sisters Joy Cunningham of Bradenton, Florida, Jewell (Riley) Devenbarger of Mansfield, Ohio, JoAnn (Richard) Stobbs of Westerville, Ohio, June Hayes of Caldwell, Ohio and Jeanne (Fred) Eschbaugh of Cambridge, Ohio; 3 brothers Don Willey of Mansfield, Ohio, David (Etta) Willey of Sharon, Ohio and Darwin Willey of Senecaville, Ohio; numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and cousins. Friends may call Wednesday (11/13/2002) from 7 to 9 PM and Thursday (11/14/2002) from 2 to 9 PM (family present 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 PM) at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, Ohio 43724. The Noble County Business and Professional Women's Organization will conduct services Wednesday at 7:30 PM. Amazon Chapter #30 OES will conduct Services Thursday at 7:30 PM. Funeral services will be held Friday (11/15/2002) at 1:00 PM at the funeral home with the Revs. William Pickenpaugh, Ken & Susan Hyland officiating. Burial will follow at Olive Cemetery in Caldwell. The family requests that memorials be made to the Joyce M. Davis Senior Citizens Center Memorial Fund. (envelopes will be available at the funeral home).
