Josie L. Williams, age 100, of Caldwell, Ohio, formerly of Kennonsburg, died Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at Altercare Summit Acres in Caldwell. She was born February 8, 1924, in Noble County, daughter of the late Francis and Hazel Eschbaugh Powell. Josie was a homemaker who along with her husband, owned and operated a family farm. She was a member of the Kennonsburg United Methodist Church and was a founding member of the Good Cheer Circle and member of the Wayne Homemakers Club. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, and quilting, and she loved to cook old-fashioned Sunday family dinners. Josie was devoted to her family.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Victor E. Williams, whom she married June 11, 1941, and who died June 19, 1985; one daughter, Daisy (Tom) Tomlins; one son, Roger Victor Williams; four sisters, Betty McVicker, Dorothy Warner, Edna Anderson, and Sylvia Mendenhall; and three brothers, Walter, Donald Earl, and Freddie Powell.
Surviving are her children, Carolyn S. (David Roy) Barnhouse of Zanesville and James F. (Charlene) Williams of Kennonsburg; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Patty Williams; two sisters-in-law, Leona Powell and Joann Powell; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Monday, November 25, 2024, from 11AM-1PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will follow visitation at 1PM with Pastor Mark Slay and Pastor Jeff Eschbaugh officiating. Burial will follow at Kennonsburg Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Quaker City Volunteer Fire Department, 129 Fair Street, Quaker City, Ohio, 43773.
