Joseph Wilford Harper, age 63, of Dexter City, Ohio, died Saturday afternoon (6/8/2002) near Caldwell, Ohio after suffering an apparent heart attack. He was born 5/11/1939 in Enoch Township, Noble County, Ohio a son of the late Wilmer W. & Elizabeth A. (Lizzie) McDonald Harper. He was a 1957 graduate of Dexter City High School; a veteran of the United States Army, having served in Korea; was a retired employee of the Oxford Oil Company in Zanesville, Ohio; was a member of the Dexter City American Legion and the Zanesville Eagles. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a brother Vernon Ray Harper and a sister Louella Jane Harper. Surviving are 1 sister Gail Harper of Dexter City, Ohio; 1 brother Dail Harper of Caldwell, Ohio; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, Ohio 43724, where services will be held on Tuesday at 1:30 PM with the Rev. William Pickenpaugh officiating. Burial will follow at Olive Cemetery in Caldwell, Ohio.
