Obituary for Joseph Wesley Wheeler
Joseph Wesley Wheeler, age 92, of Ava, Ohio, died Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center in Cambridge. He was born May 7, 1917, near Deavertown, Ohio, son of the late Richard and Grace Inman Wheeler. He worked during the Depression with the Civilian Conservation Corps in Idaho, and he was a retired truck driver for B & N Coal at Dexter City. Mr. Wheeler was a member of Stop Nine Church of Christ in Byesville. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one son, Raymond Wheeler, who died in 2008; an infant daughter, Helen Mae Wheeler; one brother, Richard Wheeler; and one sister, Mary Margaret Smith. Surviving are his wife, Rita Mae Sealock Wheeler, whom he married March 1, 1937; one daughter, Doris J. Feldner of Byesville; two sons, Robert W. (Twila) Wheeler and Larry D. (Cindy) Wheeler both of Cambridge; one brother, William (Rita) Wheeler of Malta; three sisters, Carol Pickenpaugh of Frazeysburg, Louella (Glen) Luman of Zanesville, and Geraldine Bailey of Kentucky; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call Friday, June 19, 2009, from 2-4 and 6-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be held Saturday, June 20, 2009, at 1PM. Burial will follow at Halley?s Ridge Cemetery near Ava.
