Obituary for John B. Nichelson
John B. Nichelson, age 87, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at his home. He was born December 23, 1930, in Sarahsville, son of the late George Herley Nichelson and Anna Margaret Smith Nichelson Buckey. He was a United States Army veteran, and he was employed as a laborer at Quilting Creations in Zoar. John was Free Methodist by faith and he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and mowing yards. He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather who had a huge heart.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two daughters, Melody Sue Saxton and Patsy Arlene Christmas; one son, George Edward Nichelson; one grandson, Carl Levi Christmas; one great-grandson, Tanner Jacob Cale Perdue; three sisters, Twila Lavy, Helen Pauly, and Linda Masters; and two brothers, Glen Nichelson and Kenneth Nichelson.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia Ellen Hickman Nichelson, whom he married October 28, 1953; his children, Debbie E. Snyder of Caldwell, Cindy V. McGee (James Riley) of Trimble, and Jeffrey W. Nichelson and Michael E. Nichelson (Janet Case), both of Sugarcreek; his siblings, William C. Nichelson of Ava, Beverly J. Hague of Marietta, and Frankie Buckey of Cambridge; 8 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Saturday, March 31, 2018, from 1PM-2:30PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will follow visitation at 2:30PM. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
