Obituary for Jody Edward Cox
Jody Edward Cox, age 70, of Sarahsville, Ohio, died Tuesday, November 10, 2020, at The Cleveland Clinic. He was born October 4, 1950, in Sarahsville, son of the late James Edward and Lila June Smith Cox. Jody was a 1968 graduate of Shenandoah High School, and he retired from the Mahle Corporation. He was a member of the Sarahsville United Methodist Church and he attended the Ava Free Methodist Church. He was also a member of Olive Lodge #210, F&AM at Mt. Ephraim. Jody enjoyed reading and collecting hats and hat pins. He loved sending cards to his many friends. He was a devoted Christian man who loved and cared for his family.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one sister, Amber Cox.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Elaine Miley Cox, whom he married September 12, 1970; two sons, James Carl (Beth) Cox of Belpre and Jason Edward Cox (Christopher Morgan) of Sugar Grove; one brother, Randy R. Cox of Dresden; three grandchildren, Dylan, Kaleigh, and Mary “Izzy” Cox; one aunt; 3 sisters-in-law; 2 brothers-in-law; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Friends may call Saturday, November 14, 2020, from 10AM-1PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will follow visitation at 1PM with Pastor David Wells officiating. Burial will follow at Center Free Methodist Church Cemetery. The funeral service will be livestreamed on the McVay-Perkins Funeral Home Facebook page for those unable to attend. Guests must wear masks and practice social distancing as required by the state of Ohio in the funeral home. The family would like to offer special thanks to Jody’s lung donor who gave him nine more years of life. In memory of Jody, please take time to send a card to someone you love.
