Obituary for Joan E. Warren
Joan E. Warren, age 68, of Columbus, Ohio, formerly of Dexter City, Ohio, died Thursday, November 2, 2017, at Summit Acres Nursing Home in Caldwell, Ohio. Joan was born March 8, 1949, in Zanesville, Ohio, daughter of the late Lewis D. “Dan” and Sara Rebecca Palmer Warren. She was a 1967 graduate of Caldwell High School and a 1972 graduate of Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. National Cash Register employed Joan for several years before she continued her career at the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation from which she retired. Joan was known for her kind and generous nature. She devoted many hours volunteering with the literacy agency helping people learn to read and better their math skills. Joan was also known to volunteer for agencies that support the elderly along with any group that supported the humane treatment of animals. Joan had a lifelong interest in the American Civil War, loved sports, especially The Ohio State University Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns football.
Joan is survived by two brothers, James T. Warren of Dexter City and Jack A. (Sue) Warren of Pataskala; her close friends; Louise, Claudia D., Kay, Debbie, Jacquelene, Michelle, Julie, and Claudia C.; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many beloved friends and neighbors.
Friends may call Monday, November 6, 2017, from 9-10AM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell. A graveside service will follow at 10:30AM at Dexter City Cemetery with Ken Perkins officiating.
