Obituary for JoAnn E. Rager
JoAnn E. Rager, age 85, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Monday, January 24, 2022, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was born April 20, 1936, in Warrenton, daughter of the late Ellsworth and Anna Churella Burch. JoAnn worked as a caretaker at group homes for the developmentally disabled. She enjoyed coloring, watching TV, crocheting and embroidery, and she was a devoted Elvis Presley fan who collected Elvis memorabilia. JoAnn was devoted to her family.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph B. Rager, whom she married August 3, 1955, and who died in 1991; one daughter, Dianna Rager; one son, Jeffry Rager; and four sisters.
Surviving are two daughters, Penny S. (Chuck) Augenstein of Caldwell and Brenda L. (David) Anthony of Bloomingdale; 8 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Thursday, January 27, 2022, from 4-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell. A graveside service will be observed Friday, January 28, 2022, at 2PM at Holly Memorial Gardens in Colerain, Ohio. Guests are asked to follow recommended safety precautions against Covid at all gatherings.
