Obituary for Jimmy E. Blair
Jimmy E. Blair, age 72, of Marietta, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord Monday, August 17, 2015, at his home. He was born September 8, 1942, in Monroe County, son of the late Wilbert Eugene and Elsie Laura Kinsey Blair. He was a 1960 graduate of Harriettsville High School, and he attended Ohio Valley College in Parkersburg. He was a United States Army veteran, and he was employed as a toll taker at the Memorial Bridge in Parkersburg, and he retired from Kardex Systems in Reno as a senior estimator for paper products. He was a member of the Williamstown Church of God and the Lowell American Legion Post #750. Mr. Blair loved singing and playing music with his band Jim Blair and the Southern Gospelaires. He also enjoyed softball and spending time with his pup.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth A. Fogle Blair, whom he married September 11, 1971; one daughter, Lucinda L. (Doug) Love of Harriettsville; three step-sons, Gary D. (Danielle) Thompson of Harriettsville, William P. “Pete” (Amy) Jeffers of Arcanum, and Billy (Tammy) Zink of Marietta; one sister, Jane (Dan) Biehl of Whipple; 6 grandchildren, Josh Love, Leeanna Love, Christopher Jeffers, Cori Jeffers, Derek Thompson, and Landen Rake; 3 great-grandchildren, Caysen Love, Coleson Love, and Cash Presnell; one niece, Wendy Molvie of Lowell; and his beloved poodle, Honey.
Friends may call Wednesday, August 19, 2015, from 4-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, Ohio, and from 12PM-1PM Thursday, August 20th at the Williamstown Church of God, 511 Highland Avenue, Williamstown, West Virginia. The funeral service will follow visitation Thursday at 1PM at the Williamstown Church of God with Pastor Ron Blevins officiating. A military graveside service will follow at Creighton Ridge Cemetery.
