Obituary for Janet L. Stoneking
Janet L. Stoneking, age 58, of New Concord, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at the The Beckett House following a three year battle with cancer. She was born May 30, 1959, in Zanesville, daughter of the late Charles W. and Mary Morris Stoneking. She was a 1977 graduate of Shenandoah High School and a 1979 graduate of Muskingum Technical College, where she earned an Associate’s Degree in Mental Health. Janet devoted her entire career to taking care of developmentally disabled people, including working as a supervisor for group homes for Cole Spring, Inc., RIA, Inc., and Rem Ohio, Inc.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one sister, Joyce C. Daugherty; and one step-brother, Richard “Butch” Roberts.
Surviving are one brother, Billy D. (Ruth Ellen) Stoneking of Pleasant City; two nephews, Zack and Josh Stoneking and their families; her step-mother, Alice Stoneking of Zanesville; three step-brothers, Mike (Patti) Roberts of Zanesville, William Roberts and Bernard (Becky) Roberts, both of Akron; one brother-in-law, Bob Daugherty of Cambridge; several cousins; and her college friend of 40 years, Jackie Barstow-Wilkins of Fresno.
Friends may call Saturday, July 22, 2017, from 2-4 and 6-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Sunday, July 23rd at 1:30PM with Ken Perkins officiating. Burial will follow at Hoskinsville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Shelter Society, Inc. at 1430 Newark Road, Zanesville, Ohio, 43701, or to Starlight School, 1330 Newark Road, Zanesville, Ohio, 43701, and designate “Special Olympics.”
