Janet F. Bertram, age 67, formerly of Noble County, Ohio, and a resident of Elkhart, Indiana, died Tuesday, November 27, 2007, at Elkhart General Hospital. She was born February 2, 1940, in Quaker City, Ohio, daughter of the late Calvin and Clarice Danford Mendenhall. She was a member of the Caldwell Church of Christ in Caldwell, Ohio, and a member of the Starlight Chapter #181 Order of the Eastern Star in Elkhart. She was formerly employed by K-Mart in its health and beauty department at Elkhart for 17 years. She was an avid Pogo player and enjoyed online chats with her friends. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Bertram, whom she married January 19, 1962, and who died May 21, 1987; one brother, Merritt Mendenhall; and one brother-in-law, Herb Ramsey. Surviving are two daughters, Theresa L. (John) Holmes and Joyce A. (Dale) Dennison, both of Elkhart; one son, Bruce A. (Amy) Bertram of Elkhart; two sisters, Jean Ramsey and Geneva (Dana) Foraker, both of Caldwell; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call Friday, November 30, 2007, from 4-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be held Saturday, December 1st at 11AM with Pastor Jim Garrett officiating. Burial will follow at Sharon Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
