Obituary for James Wesley Kathary
James W. Kathary, age 70, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Monday, December 10, 2012, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born September 1, 1942, in Montgomery County, Ohio, son of the late Paul Kathary and Phyllis Kelly Kathary Deem. Mr. Kathary was a veteran of the United States Army, having served from 1959 to 1962. He was a retired truck driver, having earned an award for over one million accident free miles. He was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church in Caldwell, a past president of Fraternal Order of Eagles #1763 in Ligonier, Indiana; a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles #2952 in Caldwell, Buffalo Post #8040 Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Belle Valley American Legion Post #641. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shelda Groves Kathary, whom he married February 27, 1967, and who died April 5, 1997; his step-mother, Kris Kathary; and his step-father, Donald Deem. Surviving are one daughter, Kimberley K. (Travis) Baker of Caldwell; nine sisters, Lois (Don) Weenink of Edmond, Oklahoma, Ava Reed of Cromwell, Indiana, Elaine Kathary of Evansville, Indiana, Paulette (Ron) Laughlin of Cincinnati, Patricia (Scott) Shultz of Marquette, Michigan, Diane (Steve) Fielder of Houston, Texas, Deniese Weatherholt of Terre Haute, Indiana, Sharon (Jim) Nelson of West Chicago, Illinois, and Dee (Rex) Marshall of Vincent; three brothers, Bruce (Linda) Kathary of Eddyville, Kentucky, Eugene (Kim) Kathary of Ligonier, Indiana, and Jonathon Kathary of Evansville, Indiana; 2 grandsons, Jamie L. Kathary of Waterford and Coleman Baker of Caldwell; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call Wednesday, December 12, 2012, from 10AM-12PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral will follow at 12PM. Burial will follow at Creighton Ridge Cemetery near Stafford, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be sent to the family, c/o Kimberley K.
