Obituary for James W. Pickenpaugh
James W. Pickenpaugh, age 80, of Belle Valley, Ohio, died Tuesday, February 4, 2020, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born January 21, 1940, in Marietta, son of the late George A. and Josephine M. Walters Pickenpaugh. He was a 1958 graduate of Belle Valley High School. Jim retired in 1999 as Chief Deputy for the Noble County Sheriff’s Office. He enjoyed farming, and he was Christian by faith. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle who was devoted to his family.
He is survived by his wife, Anne Totten Pickenpaugh, whom he married December 9, 1966, in the chaplain’s office in the U. S. Capitol Building in Washington, D.C.; his children, Noble County Sheriff Robert W. and wife Konny Bates Pickenpaugh of Caldwell, and Beth A. and husband Robert Hamilton of Northfield, Minnesota; three grandchildren, Kirstyn Pickenpaugh, Josey Pickenpaugh, and Gabrielle Hamilton; his sister, Marilyn Ann Fliehman of Caldwell; his niece, Kathleen Fliehman; many cousins; his neighbors, Amy, Chad, Mike, and Mary Ann; honorary grandchildren, Maggie Mae and Kinsley; and many friends.
Friends may call Saturday, February 8, 2020, from 11AM-2PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will follow visitation at 2PM with Pastor Deborah Gheen and Pastor John Powell officiating. A law enforcement memorial service will follow at Sharon Cemetery conducted by the Noble County Sheriff’s Office Color Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to establish funding for a therapy dog to the Noble County Sheriff’s Office, 420 Olive Street, Caldwell, Ohio, 43724.
