Obituary for James S. "Jim" Swain

James S. “Jim” Swain, age 72, of Massillon, Ohio, died Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Aultman Compassionate Care in Canton. He was born August 24, 1951, in Noble County, son of the late Alfred V. and Wilma Harper Swain. Jim attended Dexter City High School and retired as an assistant superintendent for Noble County District #10, Ohio Department of Transportation. He was a member of the Senecaville United Methodist Church and Sharon Lodge #136, F&AM. He enjoyed watching John Hagee Ministries on TV, doing yard work, and eating at Cracker Barrel. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.


In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Cheryl L. Marr Swain, who died November 3, 2021; an infant sister, Lucetta Jane Swain; and one brother, Alfred E. “Butch” Swain.


Surviving are his children, William James Swain of Canton and Alicia Marie Swain (William Phillips) of Houston, Texas; two grandchildren, Luke James Swain and Kinsey Lynette Swain; two brothers, William (Martha) Swain and Daniel Swain, all of Caldwell; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.


A graveside service will be observed Sunday, April 28, 2024, at 2PM at South Olive Cemetery with Pastor George Clark officiating.
